Field Trips!

At Mendo LEAP you can come to play on our therapeutic educational play equipment OR you can come to Intentionally learn through play in a rotating station small group format!

Field Trips to our facility are ideal for children ranging from daycares to about 5th Grade.

We don’t have an age cutoff, so all ages and abilities are encouraged to come play! Please see options below for all age and ability ranges!

(Our equipment will hold adult sizes.)

  • Unstructured Open Play

This ideal for the younger ages and those with neurodivergent superpowers.

We have sensory swings that ignite emotions and comfort stimulation sensitivities.

We also have open-ended play equipment that stimulates curiosity, engineering, and physical/occupational development.

We worked with local physical and occupational therapists who approved our equipment and also gifted us with posters specifically for each of our pieces of equipment that have the therapeutic benefits specific to each one. These are along the walls of our facility to empower parents/carers/staff/teachers.

  • Rotating Educational Play Stations in a Small Group Format

We can set up as many or as little of these as you like. They are tailored to you and your students. Typically in groups of pairs to 4+ kids we set up stations where teachers can give their expectations and students are given a set time to accomplish a goal or explore the equipment in that station before rotating to a new station. With prior planning with staff and teachers we will prep and facilitate these stations.

Stations include but not limited to magnetic gears, ball and ramps loose parts play, wheel and axil loose parts play, (giant) magnet tile construction, giant lego construction, obstacle course building, light table and accessories use.

  • Maker Space Art Projects

We will work with you to prepare and facilitate small and large group arts and craft projects.

Projects include but are not limited to:

Watercolor painting, loose-parts collaborative craft projects, collage, and mixed media projects.

  • High School or College Class Research Visit

Collage classes are welcome to visit our facility to analyze our unique equipment and facility. You may arrange to come when children are present so as to observe it all in use, or you may arrange to come visit without children present.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Our space was designed specifically to not just accommodate but to serve and enrich all children & adults with neurodivergent superpowers. Our equipment is professional commercial grade that will hold larger adult sizes.

We love brainstorming how we can be inclusive of your specific students needs, so do reach out.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility ahead of time so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • If you have 8 or less kiddos in your group: at that age and size of group it is still comfortable in the facility to come visit while we are still open to the public. In that case, we consider it a ‘play-date’ and allow you to pay per child at the time of visit. We do ask that you let us know you are coming so we can prepare a ‘welcome’ for you! :)

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Non-structured play is idea for this age given the nature of our equipment. This age is learning and developing a wide variety of skills through the use of our equipment without even knowing it! More structured field trips at this age generally aren’t needed but absolutely doable!

We will also connect you with our Art Director to set up an arts and crafts project that aligns with your students’ age and developmental stage.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Kinder-1st Grade is a great age for unstructured open play. They are also the perfect age to introduce more time-intensive Maker Space projects into the visit. In collaboration with the teacher/staff we have students move through the facility in rotating small groups, or we can set up to have the whole class participate at one time in a guided art project.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • 2nd-5th Grade is a great age to do rotating educational play stations, guided Maker Space Projects and Learning Unit prep ahead of the visit on one or all of our 4 Mendocino County specific play exhibits.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Our facility is the perfect place bring your older ages class to reinforce learning objectives. Cause and effect, experimentation, reflection, exploration, encouragement, research. Our unique equipment can be used for a wide variety of purposes and is absolutely benafitial to the older development students.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Our facility is the perfect research facility for college classes to come explore and evaluate.

We can set up for you to come while children are present so you can observe children play and the impact the specific equipment has for them or you can arrange to come in a private setting so as to explore the equipment and analyse the facility without the public.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!
